Village Harvest — Starting Soon!

Using elbow grease to help others, it is the best idea. Thanks to Rob Malech for sharing this information!

Apricots! They helped make our “Valley of Heart’s Delight” famous, they’re ripening fast, and they won’t last long. And we have generous small orchard owners offering their extra fruit to benefit the community.
Starting this Wednesday June 20, we have orchard harvests for almost everyone: weekends, weekdays, sunset picks … individuals, families, groups. Join in one or more of these special harvests, you’ll have a great time.
And don’t forget, our home harvest teams in Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and San Jose are starting to pick plums and apricots, too.
Just in case you are wondering, they don’t stop at Apricots. We live in such a rich area — look at the statistics on the cherry harvest!

We had a tremendous cherry orchard harvest last weekend at the Guadalupe Historic Orchard in San Jose. SO many cherries this year – 39 volunteers plus more Master Gardeners picked 660 lbs passed on to food agencies in San Jose, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, and Menlo Park.
