We Love the Stanford Dish!
The Dish is a special area for hiking, it is easy to get to, fun, and rewards you with great vistas! It will start with a heart racing climb up the hill, and lead us to sights all over the bay – you can see for miles.
Hike Rating: Moderately easy
Hike Difficulty: 4 miles of paved trail, some is very steep, you can walk the steep part first (slowly) loop around, come down hill, walk parallel to Junipero Serra Blvd, and end up where we started, Junipero Serra/ Stanford Ave at the gate.
Hike Time: 1.5-2 hours
Open to the Public from Sunrise to Sunset.
Park along the side streets and during a beautiful evening, you may have to walk a block or so up to the gate, so allow extra time.
This hike is so great that you will want to try it many times. It is loved by Stanford students and the surrounding communities. This area is also used for academic programs, environmental restoration, habitat conservation studies and hiking. We are using the trail for recreation, although we might see a California tiger salamander if we are lucky!
Take a look at this map of the Dish TRAILS and neighborhoods.
