Environmental Art

There are more artists that think globally and environmentally about their art, their vision, material, staging, energy use, and interacting with the public. Isn’t that the best message? Create something that speaks out about our oneness, our earth, our survival — very inspiring!

  • The LAND / ART project is inspired by nature. It is worth checking out: landartnm.org. In one exhibit, a four-acre corn maze is growing, with the design based on ancient native designs. 
  • Bowls formed from local clay, contain seeds that will sprout as the rains come to the desert, in another installation.
  • Lynne Hull of Fort Collins, CO has made her art double as a wildlife refuge.

Green Job Growth

In a survey conducted by the Pew Charitable Trusts, [ For the study, Google "The Clean Economy: Repowering Jobs, Businesses and Investments Across America"] traditional job growth was measured at 3.7 between 1998 and 2007, the clean/ green economy grew at 9.1.

What does a Clean Energy job focus on?  Clean energy, energy efficiency, environmentally friendly products, conservation and pollution mitigation, and training and support.

These jobs are in all states surveyed, available for various skill levels and a range of salaries from low to high.

The federal funds in our recovery act, poured in $85 billion into this sector. Every state offers some form of tax incentive to get going and support this boosting of green jobs. There is a state by state map and some company bios posted too.

A local company, Bridgelux, was highlighted in the California section of the report.
