Loon Lake is higher in elevation than Lake Tahoe. It is a beautiful lake with islands scattered and a variety of beaches, coves, caves and vistas. The closest town is Georgetown. This Lake is at the edge of the Rubicon Trail Have you heard of the Jeep Jamboree?

The lake is clear and cold but warm enough to jump in. The wind can pick up, but we had calm, serene conditions. This was a great adventure. Just the tonic for my heart and brain.

Current Adventures was the local group that led us. They are wonderful and took such great care of us, providing tasty meals, tents, campfires, kayaks and all the rest of the gear. They can be reached at 530-333-9115 or 888-452-9254, web address: www.currentadventures.com located in Lotus, CA.

Palo Alto will relocate its COMPOST to SJ and Gilroy... How green is that Palo Alto? We carefully gather all our garden scraps and send it by truck to GILROY? This is the dumbest, most wasteful idea. OK, there are obligations and contracts, get them changed. Trucking compost around CA at the behest of Palo Alto is dumb. Ask the residents if they think this is a good idea. What next, PA Residents would then drive to Gilroy to pick up compost for their gardens. Ilogical, not local, wastful. Get real City Council.... here they are in the first agenda items discussing if they could possibly use trains to transport compost to Gilroy. http://xconn.cityofpaloalto.org/public/Council%20Agenda%20Email/Agenda%20items%20%2312%20and%2013%20Councilmember%20Kishimoto%20questions.EML/
Huh? LEAVE palo alto Compost in Palo Alto. It isn't GREEN to do anything else.
